Yes. HR Dog Walking and Training is fully insured, and all dogs in our care are treated with the same attention we give our own. We also bring decades of hands-on experience with different breeds, ages, and temperaments.
We invest in ongoing learning so our training and handling methods stay up to date and welfare-led, giving you peace of mind every time we collect your dog or step into a training session.
That depends on your dog and what suits them best.
We offer:
Solo walks - ideal for dogs who are nervous, reactive, elderly, or simply prefer their own space.
Small, compatible groups - for friendly, social dogs who enjoy doggy company and structured group outings.
We never overload walks. Our focus is on safety, supervision, and quality time, not cramming in as many dogs as possible.
Only if you’re comfortable with it and we’re confident your dog has a reliable recall in real-life situations.
We will always:
Discuss off-lead walking with you beforehand
Build up trust and recall graduall
Choose safe, appropriate locations
Keep your dog on lead if there’s any doubt
If your dog isn’t ready to be off lead yet, don’t worry. We can work on recall and confidence as part of our Dog Walking and Training support.
A walk with HR Dog Walking and Training is more than just a quick lap around the block.
Depending on your dog’s needs, a typical walk might include:
A safe pick-up from your home
A varied route with plenty of sniffing and exploring
Practising basic manners like waiting calmly, walking nicely on lead, and checking in
Fresh water and a quick towel dry if needed before we leave them to relax
We’ll always return your dog settled, content, and ready for a nap.
We use kind, reward-based methods that are centred on welfare, understanding, and clear communication.
That means:
No harsh handling, fear-based tactics, or quick-fix gimmicks
Using rewards (treats, toys, praise) to reinforce behaviours we want
Setting dogs up to succeed, not to fail
Working at a pace that is fair and comfortable for your dog
Our aim is to build confidence, trust, and long-lasting habits you can maintain at home and on walks.
Yes, we love helping puppies get off to the best possible start.
We can support you with:
Puppy visits and short walks suitable for young joints
Early training foundations such as settling, recall, and lead skills
Positive exposure to everyday sights, sounds, and experiences
Puppyhood can feel overwhelming, so we’re here to guide you through those early months with practical advice and realistic steps.
In many cases, yes.
We have experience with dogs who:
Bark or lunge at other dogs or people
Are anxious about the outside world
Struggle with certain triggers on walks
For these dogs, we usually recommend a combination of individual walks and tailored training so we can work calmly at their pace. We’ll always be honest about what’s appropriate and whether we’re the right match for your dog’s needs.
Not necessarily. Many of our clients are at work or out for the day when we collect and return their dogs.
We can securely hold a key or use a key safe if you have one. Entry arrangements will be agreed with you in advance so everything is clear and comfortable. Your home and your dog’s safety are always treated with the utmost care and respect.
For everyone’s safety, we ask that dogs are up to date with core vaccinations or have current titre test results, and are regularly treated for fleas and worms.
We recommend:
A well-fitted harness or flat collar (no choke or prong collars)
An ID tag that meets UK legal requirements
A secure, reliable lead
If you’re not sure whether your dog’s equipment fits correctly, we’re happy to take a look and offer guidance.
We understand that plans change. We do, however, run on a schedule that’s carefully planned around our existing clients, so we ask for reasonable notice for cancellations wherever possible.
Our current cancellation terms will be explained clearly when you book, so there are no surprises. If you’re unsure about anything, just ask.
